The second season of Game of Thrones has finally arrived in UK cinemas and is available on Netflix.
It follows on from the third season, which saw the return of a group of characters that are seen for the first time since Season 2.
This includes Theon Greyjoy, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and the Hound.
Here’s what you need to know about the new episodes.
What’s new?
Season 2: Episode 1 – “Beyond the Wall” The show’s first season sees Daenery Targaryens’ character go missing in the North, and Arya Stark and Sansa Stark take up the challenge to find her.
Here she meets her son Jon and learns the story of the Starks, who fled from the Lannister army.
The show then follows them on their quest to find their mother, with Jon discovering that she’s been killed.
There are many other changes, including a change in how Sansa and Jon travel with their baby.
Season 2: Episodes 2 – “Dangerous” and 3 – “A Man Without Honor” Sansa meets her father Jaime in Season 2’s finale, while Arya goes into hiding with her baby.
There’s also a major change with Jon’s introduction.
The Hound makes his first appearance, as well as a whole new cast of characters including Cersei Lannister, Daario Naharis, and Varys.
Season 2.1: Epilogue – “Blackwater” Sansam, Jon and the rest of the family travel to the North and confront the Hound, as he has been plotting against them.
Sansa is left behind and the show takes a turn into darker territory with new characters, including The Hound, Cersei, and The Hound’s lover Jon Snow.
Season 3: Episode 2 – ‘The Spoils of War’ The Hound and the others are sent to meet Cersei and The Wall.
This is a big episode for Arya, as the Lannisters have an alliance with The Night King.
Arya gets a chance to learn more about Cersei as she learns more about The Wall’s history.
She meets her old friend Davos Seaworth, who has also been working on the Wall and wants to kill the Wall’s defenders, and has been using his magical fire to set it on fire.
Season 3: Ep.3 – ‘Taken’ The main characters meet Daeneries, who is the Hand of the King, in Season 3’s finale.
Jon is reunited with the Hound and they decide to try to capture and kill him.
The rest of their journey takes them to the Wall, where Daenerie reveals that the Lannists are responsible for the wildfire and is determined to bring it down.
Season 4: Episode 5 – ‘Mother’s Mercy’ The story of Jon Snow’s journey from the North to the White Walkers continues, with him being forced to take part in the Battle of the Bastards.
He’s rescued by Daenerying, who tells him that she has her own plan for the Boltons, and they take the army into the Red Waste.
Jon meets the rest in a small cave and they’re captured.
Season 5: Ep 2 – The Long Night Season 5’s fifth episode is the last, as Cersei’s forces have captured Jon Snow and the Bolton army, but Arya manages to save them and takes them back to Winterfell.
This episode has been called the series finale and marks the final appearance of Sansa, Jon, and Daeneryn.
Season 5.1 – Episode 2- ‘The Mountain and the Viper’ Arya and Daario go to King’s Landing to meet with the new Hand of King Robert Baratheon.
The episode has a very different tone to the previous two seasons, with a new set of characters, a new location, and new music.
Season 6: Episode 3 – ‘Winter Is Coming’ A new threat is revealed, and Cersei sends her forces to the Night’s Watch to try and capture Jon Snow as well.
This takes place in Winterfell, which was never shown in the first two seasons.
The Red Woman’s army arrives to attack, but is stopped by Jon and Daeron.
Season 6: Ep 4 – ‘House of Black and White’ Aryas journey to Winterhold to confront the Night King, and learn more of his plans.
Aryas ends up taking a job at The Red Keep, where she meets a new member of the Night Watch: Lord Tywin Lannister.
Aryanna is now pregnant with their son, Joffrey.
Season 7: Episode 4 – The Rains of CastamereSeason 7: Ep 1 – ‘A Dance with Dragons’ A battle between Daenerity and The Night Queen is fought in a snowy field in Dorne.
Daeneriya takes the throne in the event of a Jon Snow-less Season 7.
Season 8: Episode 6 – ‘Crippled’ The next season
